Genetics and Pop Culture

Geneforum is interested in gathering public values on gene-based technologies. Many of us get our information about these new technologies from books, movies, and the news media.

The Genetics and Pop Culture forum is a place for people to discuss online how pop culture is influencing their views of gene-based technologies. The ultimate goal is to build an online community that is actively discussing the ethical issues raised by these technologies and, with the help of experts, be better able to separate fact from fiction.

How it works: Each month, Geneforum will initiate a new discussion thread in the form of a chatroom. For example, in February and March, Geneforum will discuss Michael Crichton's latest book "Next" and "Children of Men" by PD James (and the movie). To join and read the conversation, you'll need to register and create a new account. Note: Make sure you check the "Navigation" box on the registration form. Once you've registered, login to the site, click on chatrooms and join the discussion.

As a rule, please be respectful of others and keep your thoughts and opinions relevant to the topic being discussed.
